Defensio: Outsmarting Evil Spam

Private alpha & beta testers have been using, and helping us refine, Defensio since early June 2007. The service was opened up to the public on November 7, 2007.

Defensio was created because we hate spam, in all its incarnations, and with all its ramifications. When several prominent bloggers noted that comment spam was becoming overly burdensome, we threw the Defensio machine into gear and started coding our Rails hearts out. That’s right, we’re a Ruby on Rails shop, and proud of it – so much so, in fact, that we sponsor and organize Montreal on Rails .

Defensio is developed by Karabunga Inc . The team is based just outside of Montreal, Canada and consists of Carl Mercier , Camilo Lopez and Mat Balez . Carl’s steady hand is at the helm of this operation.
