Karabunga Inc. (“Karabunga”) operates the defensio.com website and related web service (“Defensio”). It is Karabunga’s policy, and thus Defensio’s, to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our site and service.

Website Visitors

Defensio may collect non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Defensio’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how its visitors use its website. From time to time, Defensio may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

Defensio also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. Defensio does not use such information to identify its visitors, however, and does not disclose such information, other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information, as described below.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to Defensio’s website and web service choose to interact with Defensio in ways that require Defensio to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that Defensio gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up an API key to provide an email address, blog address and password. In such a case, Defensio collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Defensio. Defensio does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

Aggregated Statistics

Defensio may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its website or use of its service. For instance, Defensio may monitor and analyze spam screened by its service to help identify future spam. Defensio may display aggregated statistics publicly or provide it to others. However, Defensio does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

Defensio does not disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone, except only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Defensio’s behalf, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using Defensio’s websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. Defensio will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, Defensio discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only when required to do so by law, or when Defensio believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Defensio, third parties or the public at large. If you are a registered user of Defensio and have supplied your email address, Defensio may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with our products. We primarily use our product’s blog to communicate this type of information, so we expect to keep this type of email to a minimum. If you send us a request (for example via a support email), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. Defensio takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

Use and Retention of Data

Defensio employs information from every of its users’ blog posts and comments thereto, in order to populate a knowledge-base which helps our service identify and stop spam. Most of this information loses any personally-identifiable characteristics in this process. However, a subset of the information from every comment to our users’ blogs is retained for a period of up to 1 month in order to help improve the performance of Defensio’s spam filter. After this period, such information is permanently destroyed from our systems.
